Oct. 25th, 2007 | 04:50 pm

This is just random, angry, migraine-induced word vomit. Read at your own risk.

Okay, you know what pisses me off? People who think that the world owes them something. The world doesn't owe you ANYTHING. Your teachers do not owe you a good grade. I do not owe you comfort, or a shoulder to cry on, or emotional validation, or even my time. Your friends do not owe you their acceptance. That's the kind of thing you work for, and sometimes even when you work for it, you don't get it. Because life isn't fair.

Another thing that gets to me is people who lie. People who say "I want to change" when what they mean is "Tell me it's okay to be me!" I don't CARE how you live your life! I don't care if you're going to study more or party more or ANYTHING. I run into that a lot at work. People say "I want to change.........but if I don't, you know, that's cool, right?"

People are such liars.

I also hate it when people are late. Guy showed up for his appointment today 20 minutes late. 20 minutes late for an appointment that lasts a half hour to an hour. I saw him anyway, but only because my next appointment had canceled. I hate that though, if you say you're going to be somewhere at a certain time, BE THERE AT THAT TIME. It's not HARD. I understand if you forget or if something unexpected comes up, but seriously. It gets to me. I'm almost always on time, or early to the places I want to be. If you want to get there on time, you will get there on time.

It also bothers me when something disastrous happens and everyone feels the need to talk about it. I get it if there's been a recent change. Sort of. But really...8 people today went "wow it's sure smoky out. Hope those fires get put out soon."

Seriously now, people. Everyone realizes that it's smoky. You don't have to SAY it. And I'm SO glad that you clarified that you hope the fires get contained, because I thought you were one of those people who are happy that people's houses are burning down. Find something new to talk about, please and thank you.

I consider talking about situational stuff to be kind of a cop-out anyway. From "It's nice out today, I love the sun." to "How about that heat?" just don't. Unless you come from freaking Colorado, and you are ACTUALLY amazed at the fact that California is really warm, yes, even in late October, do not comment on it. Do not talk about it. I know. I know it's hot out. No, I'm not warm in this jacket. Why? Because I live in California, and anything below 80 degrees warrants this jacket.

Also, I'm thinking about getting a name tag that says "Nina. Third year. Neuroscience. Yes, it's hard." Just so that I can skip the part of the conversation where they go "Oh wooow."

I talked to a lady today, Lisa. I told her I was a neuroscience major and she said "oh wow, that sounds rough." And then she started a very interesting discussion with me about why we don't have memories before the age of 3 or 4. Then she told me about a memory she has of herself when she was 2. It was fascinating, and I mean that honestly. See, why can't people actually do that stuff? Actually talk, instead of just moving their mouths so that drivel comes out. Even talking about movies is better than talking about the weather. Everyone can see the weather, not everyone can see what you've got in your ipod. Say something new.

Another thing that gets to me is people who think that if they don't understand something, it doesn't make sense. This was epitomized last night when the cable guy came to fix our internet connection. Kristina walked in, looked at me and said "He thinks the splitter is bad." To which my essential response was "Okay. Can he fix it?" She said he was going to fix it, and then capped it with this line (I swear I can't make this stuff up)
"I've never heard of a splitter. I think he's bullshitting us."

I get that a lot from clients, too. Sure, everyone ELSE in the class can understand the teacher. But that's beside the point. The point is, that they can't therefore the teacher is incomprehensible and possibly dangerously insane. Own up, people. If you don't know something or don't get it say "I don't get it." don't say "he's full of crap."

And yeah, bowling for soup came on and I ran out of steam on that one. Post now.

Concert Obsessions

Sep. 11th, 2007 | 10:46 am
mood: cold cold

*strangled sound*

So, as anyone who's talked to me in the past month knows, I've developed a sudden, very intense obsession with Panic! at the Disco.

They're PLAYING next weekend in San Diego, for Street Scene 2007 and it's like the only concert they're going to do until after their next album comes out.  AND I CAN'T GO. I would so totally shell out the money for it, too. I mean...it's /Panic/. But NOOO I have to go to JOB TRAINING. The Academy Is... is going to be there TOO and Rocket Summer and EVERYONE. The Killers are playing too. And Arctic Monkey. And about 50 other bands that I haven't heard of. Why is it that I never find out about these things until it's too late? Even if I could get together the money for the weekend pass and get out of job training, I wouldn't have a ride.

*whines* I wanna goooooooo!

In other concert-related news, Blaqk Audio is playing in California sometime this week. *whines* I need a car, a license, and someone to go to randon concerts with me.

This new obsession is seriously going to be my primary motivation in getting my license. I /need/ to see Panic! the next time they tour in California, or I may die. I also need to take a road trip this summer and go to the Sundance Film Festival so I can stalk Lou Pucci. Yes. Yes that will be good.

Songs that are hitting me harder than usual...

Sep. 2nd, 2007 | 04:45 pm

This is pretty much the only IHOP song that has any emotional impact for me.

"The stars they don’t move You.
Waves can’t undo You.
Mountains in their splendor
They cannot steal Your heart.
This God who is holy
Perfect in beauty
Awesome in glory
Is ravished by my heart.
And though I’m dark You say I’m lovely
Though I’m poor You say I’m beautiful.
Somehow my weak love, has overwhelmed You.
Somehow my weak glance, it has stolen away Your heart!"

This song played on Air1 today and I just about lost it.
"I walk the line
Leave it all behind
I've been waiting forever
Lets go back in time
When I could read your mind
Still I've been waiting

It took the seasons going by
To know its not my fault

I tried to be perfect, tried to be honest
Tried to be everything that you ever wanted
I tried to be stronger, tried to be smarter
Tried to be everything but you

Its been so long
Since you've been home
I used to wait up forever
I used to say a prayer
Wishing you were there
And I'm still waiting

You told me once
You'd show up
But I fell for that
Before I fell to pieces
Then I woke up
To no one,
Just a picture of Jesus
And a house left in pieces

It took the seasons going by
To know its not my fault

I tried to be perfect, tried to be honest
Tried to be everything that you ever wanted
I tried to be stronger, tried to be smarter
Tried to be everything but you

I wanted you
I need you
I want to believe you
I wanted you
I need you
I want to believe you

I tried to be perfect, tried to be honest
tried to be everything but you

I tried to be perfect, tried to be honest
Tried to be everything that you ever wanted
I tried to be stronger, tried to be smarter
Tried to be everything but you"

So, the Aurigid meteor shower was INCREDIBLE.
There weren't as many as the Perseius, but they were incredibly bright. One of them was SO huge it left an afterimage on my eyes and covered a good quarter of the visible sky.  It was really amazing, and I'm SO glad that I stayed up to watch it. Once in a lifetime experience, I'm told.

Also, Stardust was a good movie. "Whoopsie" is my new way of saying "gay." I won't say why, for anyone who hasn't seen it. I plan on buying it on DVD when it comes out.

Umm...hm. I dunno what else to say. So I'll sign off early then.
